We did the old car swap technique with one group starting at Crawford Notch and the other starting at Appalachia. Each group hid the car keys on their car somewhere and so the other group could drive back to camelot.
The weather forecast said the only weather window for the weekend was from about midnight friday night to sometime saturday afternoon when thunderstorms, rain, and snow were supposed to move in. So we decided to start asap after the trip meeting and forego sleep to beat the weather.
The plan worked almost perfectly, with both groups finishing the traverse before the weather got too bad.
