Olallie Mountain (4,440ft)
Dec 10, 2020
I wanted to test out a new pair of climbing skins for my skis so headed up to the Hyak area of Snoqualmie Pass, which had still not officially opened. The parking lot was empty and I skinned up the snow-covered road to tag the summit of Mt Hyak. I then skied down and followed groomed roads to near Olallie Mountain.
I then left the roads and followed what looked sort of like a trail zig zagging up to an old radio tower. From there I followed the northeast ridge until the snow got too icy. I ditched my skis then booted up to the summit.
After a lunch break I booted back to my skis and skied back down. I got a lap down the very icy back side of Mt Hyak, then skied back over the peak down to my car.
